Job Summary

The Inspector of Works (C&S) is responsible for supervising and inspecting all civil and structural works at construction sites to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and statutory requirements. The role involves close coordination with consultants, contractors, and project teams to ensure timely completion and adherence to the company's quality and safety standards in all property development projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Supervision & Inspection

  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor and ensure civil and structural works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and local authority requirements.
  • Verify construction methods, materials, and workmanship meet the required quality standards.
  • Ensure that corrective actions are taken on any non-conformance or defective work observed on site.
  • Monitor and record site progress, including daily reports, photographs, and inspection checklists.
  • Coordinate inspection requests (RFI) and assist in testing and commissioning of completed works.

2. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure contractors adhere to quality control procedures and approved materials.
  • Check reinforcement, formwork, concrete works, and structural elements before and after concreting.
  • Assist in reviewing and verifying shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions.
  • Ensure all civil and structural works comply with project specifications, drawings, and relevant building codes.

3. Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise closely with consultants, contractors, and relevant authorities to resolve site technical issues.
  • Attend site meetings, inspections, and coordination sessions to track work progress and resolve problems.
  • Provide accurate feedback and site reports to the Project Manager or Construction Manager.
  • Support coordination between structural works and other disciplines such as M&E, architectural, and infrastructure teams.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain proper documentation of inspection records, site memos, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and test results.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Record as-built details and assist in compiling project completion and handover documentation.

5. Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure all site works comply with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.
  • Report unsafe practices and assist in implementing corrective measures.
Requirements
  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum 5- 8 years Experience in site supervision, preferably in property development or building construction projects.
  • Certification: Registered Inspector of Works (IoW) with BEM or relevant professional body is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of civil and structural construction methods, materials, and standards.

  • Familiarity with local authority requirements and building codes.

  • Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Proficient in reading construction drawings and using basic Microsoft Office tools.
