Work Condition

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as a Mechanical Engineer at RP (Hydro) Kelantan Sdn Bhd in Kelantan. The Mechanical Engineer oversees and inspects all mechanical installation and commissioning activities at the project site to ensure works conform to design, specifications, contract, quality, and safety standards. The Mechanical Engineer works closely with the mechanical team, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to help achieve a high-quality, safe, and timely completion of mechanical systems and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical installation and supervision in hydropower, heavy infrastructure, or industrial plant projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical installation standards (including hydro turbines, penstocks, gates, cranes).
  • Familiarity with Malaysian standards, QA/QC, and commissioning protocols for mechanical systems.
  • Strong observational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Independent and disciplined; able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficient in inspection reporting and analysis.
  • Immediate starters preferred
  • This position will be based in Dabong, Kelantan

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Inspection & Supervision

· Conduct daily inspections of mechanical installations: turbines, pumps, pipes, valves, gates, hoists, HVAC, fire protection, and associated systems.

· Ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and contract documents.

· Observe installation methods and workmanship, reporting any non-conformances or defects.

2. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Verify that delivered and installed mechanical equipment/materials adhere to quality standards and approved submittals.
  • Witness factory acceptance, site acceptance, and performance tests (alignment, hydrostatic, pressure, vibration, efficiency, etc.).
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and third-party testers for quality assurance and certification.

3. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with safety policies for heavy lifting, confined spaces, rotating machinery, and pressurised systems.
  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe acts, or conditions and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Participate in HSE toolbox meetings, inductions, and site safety inspections.

4. Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers, contractors, and equipment vendors to resolve technical or installation-related issues.
  • Attend site meetings, prepare and present reports on mechanical works' progress, issues, and recommendations.
  • Maintain site diaries, inspection/test records, equipment history, and assembly documentation.

5. Construction Progress Monitoring

  • Monitor progress of mechanical works against the project plan, highlighting bottlenecks or risks of delay.
  • Review and verify the contractor's claims for completed works.
