Job Description – Application Maintenance / Production Support Engineer

Role: Application Maintenance / Production Support

Experience: 3–5 Years

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Application Maintenance / Production Support Engineer with hands-on experience in supporting applications hosted on Java-based servers. The ideal candidate should have strong troubleshooting skills, solid knowledge of middleware technologies such as JBoss or WebLogic, and expertise in SQL, Shell scripting, and Unix/Linux environments. This role requires flexibility to work in shifts and provide L2 support for critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L2 production support for business-critical applications running on Web servers and Java application servers (JBoss/WebLogic).
  • Monitor system health, application logs, and alerts; perform proactive issue detection and resolution.
  • Troubleshoot application, server, and middleware-related incidents and coordinate fixes.
  • Perform SQL queries for data validation, analysis, and issue investigation.
  • Develop and maintain Shell scripts for automation and operational tasks.
  • Perform deployment support, configuration updates, and environment validations.
  • Work closely with L3, development teams, and infrastructure teams during incident resolution.
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs, escalation procedures, and change management processes.
  • Participate in shift-based operations (including night or rotational shifts).
  • Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, and incident reports.

Mandatory Skills

  • Hands-on experience in L2 application support
  • Experience supporting applications hosted on:
  • JBoss or WebLogic
  • Web servers and Java-based environments
  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Proficiency in SQL for troubleshooting and data analysis
  • Solid Shell scripting skills
  • Willingness to work in shift-based schedules
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (Nagios, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, etc.)
  • Experience with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
  • Understanding of networking basics (TCP/IP, load balancers, firewalls)
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or DevOps tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3–5 years of experience in Production Support / Application Maintenance

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM5, RM10,000.00 per month
