About the role

Verinon Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented COBOL Developer to join our dynamic team in Kuala Lumpur. As a COBOL Developer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our robust legacy systems, ensuring seamless operations and driving innovation within our organisation.

What you'll be doing

  • Write, test, and debug COBOL code to support and enhance existing applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Perform code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimisations
  • Participate in the design and development of new features and functionalities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the development of coding standards, best practices, and documentation
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest COBOL technologies and industry trends

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience as a COBOL Developer, with a strong understanding of COBOL syntax and language principles
  • Proficiency in writing efficient and maintainable COBOL code
  • Experience in working with relational databases, such as DB2 or Oracle
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • A keen interest in staying up-to-date with the latest COBOL technologies and trends
  • Deep knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2, with the ability to design, develop, and

    maintain complex mainframe applications efficiently.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Ensures high quality, accuracy, and compliance in coding, testing, and documentation to

    maintain system stability and reliability.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in handling changing business priorities, evolving technologies, and

    modernization efforts.
  • Works effectively with cross-functional teams, including business, operations, and testing

    teams, to achieve shared objectives Takes responsibility for assigned tasks, delivers on

    commitments, and ensures timely completion of deliverables
  • Good Communication Skills
