Key Responsibilities1. Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure chemical handling, storage, usage, and disposal comply with Malaysian laws:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994

  • Factories and Machinery Act 1967
  • DOE environmental regulations
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement SOPs for chemical safety.

  • Maintain and update MSDS/SDS database.

  • Inventory & Supply Chain Management

  • Manage chemical procurement, receiving, inventory control, and distribution.

  • Ensure proper storage conditions (e.g., ventilation, temperature, segregation of incompatible substances).

  • Technical Support

  • Provide chemical-related consultation to production, R&D, and QA teams.

  • Troubleshoot chemical-related issues in manufacturing processes.

  • Environmental Protection & Waste Management

  • Oversee classification, labeling, storage, and legal disposal of chemical waste.

  • Prevent environmental contamination through proper waste handling.

  • Training & Emergency Response

  • Conduct chemical safety handling training for staff.

  • Develop and execute emergency response plans for spills, fires, and other incidents.

  • Audits & Documentation

  • Coordinate internal and external audits (e.g., DOSH, DOE).

  • Maintain accurate records related to chemical management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in chemical safety, compliance, or industrial chemical management.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian chemical regulations and audit procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Certified Chemical Health Risk Assessor (CHRA) or equivalent is an advantage
