Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our team, focusing on interior design and renovation projects. This role is critical in preparing quotations, controlling project costs, ensuring profitability, and improving efficiency through system and process optimization. The ideal candidate must have a strong logical mindset, innovative problem-solving skills, and the ability to use software/tools to enhance workflows.

This is not a traditional QS role—beyond cost control, you will be expected to explore new methods, drive efficiency, and actively contribute to building stronger systems and processes within the company.


Key Responsibilities

1) Costing & Quotation Preparation

  • Prepare detailed and accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and quotations for interior design and renovation projects.
  • Ensure all quotations are competitive while protecting company profitability.
  • Collaborate with design and sales teams to provide costing insights and support decision-making.

2) Profitability & Cost Control

  • Monitor and analyze each project's budget, cost breakdown, and profit margins.
  • Track material, supplier, and subcontractor costs; identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure every project achieves target profitability by minimizing waste and unnecessary costs.

3) Supplier & Contractor Management

  • Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain an updated database of vendors, price lists, and performance records.
  • Build long-term partnerships with reliable suppliers and contractors to secure cost advantages.

4) Process Optimization & System Improvement

  • Utilize software/tools (e.g., advanced Excel, costing software, ERP systems) to improve efficiency in quotation and cost control.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and propose systematic improvements.
  • Assist in developing and refining SOPs, checklists, and cost control frameworks.

5) Reporting & Collaboration

  • Provide management with accurate cost analysis, profit/loss reports, and recommendations.
  • Work closely with project managers to align budgets with on-site execution.
  • Support internal audits and reviews to ensure cost transparency and accountability.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in interior design, renovation, or construction projects.
  • Solid knowledge of material costing, supplier management, and subcontractor negotiation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables), costing software, or ERP systems.
  • Fluent in English (Mandarin is an added advantage).
  • High integrity, responsibility, and commitment to ensuring project profitability.
