About the role

Viking Asphalt Sdn Bhd is seeking a proactive and responsible Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to join our team in Pasir Gudang, Johor. This full-time role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, promoting a safe working culture, and supporting continuous improvement in HSE performance.

What you'll be doing

  1. Develop, implement and monitor health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices
  2. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards and non-conformities, and ensure corrective measures are implemented
  3. Provide training, guidance, and awareness programs to employees on health, safety and environmental requirements
  4. Investigate incidents, accidents and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  5. Liaise with regulatory authorities on health, safety and environmental matters
  6. Ensure proper documentation and reporting of HSE activities as required by regulatory authorities and internal guidelines
  7. Support emergency preparedness, response plans, and safety drills

What we're looking for

  1. Tertiary qualification in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management or a related discipline
  2. Registered SHO with DOSH and / or Certified competent person ( clean air & / Scheduled Waste) with DOE (advantageous)
  3. Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar HSE officer role, preferably with the petrochemical industry
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with employees at all levels and regulatory authorities
  6. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to identify and resolve safety and environmental issues
