Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lactation Nurse to join our Nursery Department at ANDORRA Women & Children Hospital. This role focuses on providing breastfeeding education, counselling, and support to mothers while also assisting with general nursing duties within the nursery as part of the neonatal care team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide lactation consultation, education, and hands-on assistance to mothers and families.
• Guide and support mothers on proper latching, positioning, and maintaining breastfeeding.
• Promote exclusive breastfeeding in accordance with Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) standards.
• Conduct staff and patient breastfeeding education sessions when required.
• Document and maintain accurate lactation and patient care records.
• Assist in daily nursery operations and provide nursing care for newborns when required.
• Collaborate closely with obstetric, paediatric, and nursing teams to ensure holistic care for mother and infant.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing (recognized by the Malaysian Nursing Board).
• Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
• Minimum 20-hour Lactation Course Certificate (mandatory).
• Preferably with experience in nursery, maternity, or neonatal units.
• Compassionate, patient, and supportive approach when dealing with mothers and infants.
• Experience in Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) implementation (added advantages).
