Health Project Officer, State

Employment duration
The initial period of employment is six (6) months, with the possibility of extension for up to two (2) years based on performance and organisation needs.
Job Purpose
The health project officer (state) is responsible for coordinating and executing public health projects as well as education and awareness programmes; health promotion campaigns; and advocacy campaigns related to cancer and non-communicable diseases; and coordinate support services.
Current projects include:
- The training of health change agents within communities in raising cancer awareness;
- Identifying the health needs and carrying out corresponding intervention campaigns for marginalised communities; and
- Exploring the challenges of communities in living healthy lives.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Implement state-level cancer and NCD projects within underserved and marginalised communities in the state
Identify and establish working relationships with stakeholders relevant to the specific project
Coordinate, support, and implement certain activities of a project
-Provide regular updates to the project manager or department head, including progress, achievements, and challenges
2. Develop cancer and health related content
-Develop, review, and verify educational materials on cancer and NCDs
-Write news and feature articles on cancer and NCDs
-Contribute to policy reports on health
3. Carry out health education and promotion programmes
- Carry out or coordinate cancer intervention programmes within the state, including providing cancer awareness talks or workshops in schools, universities, or underserved communities
4. Represent, network, and collaborate with state-level stakeholders
-Represent the Society in state level activities on health
-Identify and collaborate with key stakeholders on health campaigns. The stakeholders include community leaders; healthcare providers; policymakers;
civil societies; corporates; media; and the Ministry of Health
5. Coordinate and support psychosocial initiatives of NCSM
-Plan and coordinate support group events
-Promote and recruit participants for events hosted at the state office
-Facilitate and forward referrals from walk-in and other patients to NCSM KL support services
-Along with the psychosocial support team, organise monthly events and webinars
-Manage logistics for sessions held in the state office, including recruitment, setup and preparations
Requirements:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in health or social sciences, such as biosciences, nutrition, dietetics, and psychology
- At least two years' work experience including project management
- Verbal and written proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Proficiency in Mandarin or Tamil is an added advantage.
- Work experience with healthcare or non-profit organisation will be an added advantage
- Weekend work as and when required
- Own transport as this role requires frequent travelling (including interstate)
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: RM3,200.00 per month
