Senior Accountant

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Accountant to manage our daily accounting operations and assist in preparing monthly and annual management accounts. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills, ecommerce knowledge, and the ability to work independently while growing alongside the company.

This position is critical to supporting Ventamin's international expansion and ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple markets and platforms , Amazon USA, online marketplace and other retail channels).

Key Responsibilities

Daily Accounting Operations:

• Perform daily bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records in our SQL-based accounting system; Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions; Process invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and online payment gateway accounts (Amazon, Shopify, international payment processors)
• Record and reconcile multi-channel sales (ecommerce platforms and retail outlets)
• Manage multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange accounting
• Handle petty cash and expense claims
• Month-End & Reporting:
• Assist in monthly accounts closing procedures
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Track and reconcile inventory for international operations
• Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow projections
• Prepare sales performance reports by country and channel

Tax & Compliance:

• Prepare and submit SST (Sales and Service Tax) returns
• Assist in corporate tax computation and LHDN e-filing
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian accounting standards (MPERS)
• Maintain proper documentation for audit purposes
• Support international tax compliance requirements
• Annual Accounts:
• Assist in preparing annual financial statements
• Support external audit processes
• Prepare year-end schedules and documentation

Experience:

• 2-4 years of accounting experience (international ecommerce/retail experience is a strong advantage)
• Experience with SQL-based accounting systems
• Previous exposure to multi-channel or multi-country business operations is preferred
• Experience with eccomerce accounting is a plus
• Fresh graduates with strong SQL skills, ecommerce interest, and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply

Technical Skills:

• SQL Skills: Ability to write intermediate SQL queries (SELECT, JOIN, WHERE clauses) for data extraction and reporting
• Accounting Software: Proficient in SQL-based accounting systems
• Microsoft Excel: Advanced skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
• Ecommerce Platforms: Familiarity with Amazon Seller Central, Shopify, Shopee, Tik tok or similar platforms
• Payment Gateways: Understanding of international payment reconciliation and multi-currency processing
• Tech-savvy: Comfortable learning new systems and tools quickly

Knowledge Requirements:

• Strong understanding of full accounting cycle
• Knowledge of taxation (Corporate Tax, SST/GST)
• Understanding of MPERS/MFRS accounting standards
• Multi-currency accounting and foreign exchange concepts
• Bank reconciliation procedures
• International ecommerce business models
• Personal Attributes:
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy in data entry and reporting
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities
• Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Adaptable and willing to learn new systems and processes in a fast-growing environment
• Integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information
