Working within a centralised BD team the candidate will have responsibility for the full spectrum of BD and marketing activities for  the transactional practice groups. This will include events, pitch proposals, marketing collateral preparation, PR, directory submissions  and other ad-hoc projects.

This individual is to be the first point of contact for the relevant practice groups in Malaysia and will work closely with other colleagues responsible for those practice groups in other offices - particularly those in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and China.

Although this is predominantly a Malaysia role, the nature of how the team operates means that international work is the norm. An international and collaborative mind-set is therefore imperative.

Further to the specific practice group responsibilities, the candidate will have responsibilities on general projects within the BD team.



Main Tasks:



·       Provide strategic/creative advice to partners in the assigned practice/s within the transactional groups, with a view to generating a department-wide business development strategy that will help raise the firm's profile and business opportunities in that area.

·       Allocate resources to the business development strategy and constantly evaluate ROI on all marketing activities.

·       Work with partners on the marketing content of the department's annual regional business plan, reviewing and reporting regularly to the partners on progress versus objectives.

·       Prepare, coordinate and finalise pitches and capability statements - working with a lead manager or partner and coordinating input from other contributors.

·       Regularly updating pitch clauses and ensure promotional pitch data is up to date and fit for use.

·       Manage the production of pitches with great attention to detail and to agreed deadlines.

·       Assist in coordination of events such as internal trainings, internal meetings, client conferences, client visits and sponsored events for the practice groups as required.

·       Undertake research and provide business, industry, client and competitor intelligence and analysis on a regular basis.

·       Assist with tracking and reporting of BD activities and developments.

·       Deal collection and preparation of deal summaries for the purposes of proposals and legal directories, as well as assist with the putting together directory submissions for the purposes of legal rankings, legal award submissions and so forth.

·       Maintain and give active qualitative input into the content of publications and promotional material (liaising with the document services centre and creative services centre as appropriate).

·       Manage the distribution of promotional materials, including compilation of targeted mailing lists.

·       Maintain key information systems such InterAction and intranet.

·       Ensure all materials, pitch records, CVs, deals lists and contact/mailing lists are clean, up to date and easily accessible.

·       Monitor and comment on directory/league table submissions, to ensure all submissions are appropriate, consistent with the department plan and made on time.

·       Work with regional partners and practice group coordinators and marketing personnel on various regional initiatives.

·       Read all relevant sector publications, spot media opportunities within practice and establish systems to facilitate PR group's generation of coverage of all relevant news items such as deals , awards, etc.

·       Client communication, ensure briefings, newsletters, client alerts, etc are circulated.

·       Liaise with lawyers on a regular basis to keep up to date with what's happening in the department and to facilitate information flow to the PR team.
