About Us

Underwater World Langkawi is one of Malaysia's premier marine and freshwater aquaria, housing more than 4,000 aquatic species and serving as a key tourism and educational destination. As we embark on a major transformation with a RM50 million development and upgrading project (2025–2027), we are seeking an experienced and visionary Head, Curatorial to lead our marine exhibits and play a pivotal role in this strategic expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, development, and enhancement of all marine and freshwater life exhibits.
  • Design and implement exhibit layouts in line with animal welfare, educational, and visitor engagement goals.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Curatorial department, ensuring proper care, health, and habitat maintenance for all marine species.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and project consultants in the execution of the RM50 million upgrading project.
  • Lead species acquisition, biodiversity enhancement, and curatorial content development.
  • Drive innovation in exhibit storytelling, conservation messaging, and public education.
  • Manage and train a team of aquarists, divers, and curatorial assistants.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices in animal care and exhibition standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Marine Biology, Aquatic Science, Zoology, or related fields.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in curatorial or aquarium operations, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in aquatic exhibit design and development, including handling large-scale infrastructure or upgrading projects in an aquarium or marine park setting.
  • Strong understanding of marine life management, life support systems, species conservation, and exhibit storytelling.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Passion for marine conservation, education, and sustainable tourism.
