Music Teacher

The International School @ ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur )  is located in the exclusive residential area of Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur ). The school opened in September 2011 and quickly established itself as a dynamic and exciting place for children to learn. We are seeking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic Primary Music teacher to teach Music to children from Year 1 to Year 6 for a 6 months maternity cover period. An ability to teach Primary Art could be an advantage for further employment.

Applicants for the position should:

• have knowledge, experience and a passion for teaching Music to Primary aged children.
• hold a teaching qualification

Main Responsibilities

• The teaching of Music to students in the age range 5-11 years.
• Managing an effective, orderly and safe learning environment.
• Motivating children to be passionate about Music and Performing Arts.
• Following ISP created schemes of work.
• Keeping detailed records of the progress of individual students.
• Differentiating class work as necessary to meet the differing ability needs of all children.
• Reporting to parents per the agreed guidelines.
• Working as part of a team with other members of the Performing Arts Department to arrange end-of-term and end-of-year performances to a high standard.
• Liaising with the Student Support Team about individual students who may have exceptional needs, to ensure that those needs are understood, planned for and met.
• Attending and contributing to meetings of a professional nature as and when required.
• Contributing to the strengthening of the parent-teacher partnership in individual and whole school initiatives as and when required.
• Developing cross-curricular links and providing opportunities for students to develop and apply their Music skills.
• Making a positive contribution to the development of the School.

Other Responsibilities

• Actively supporting the ethos of the school and the Head of Department
• Actively support and adhere to the Child Protection Policy, including attending annual training.
