Boarding House Parent

Sri KDU International Klang is seeking a dedicated and passionate Boarding House Parent for January 2026. Boarding parents are committed to supporting the highest standards of care, safety, and well-being for every boarder (students from Year 7 to Year 11). They provide a stable and caring presence that helps students feel secure and supported while living away from home by playing an important role in creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere where students can grow socially and emotionally. By working closely with colleagues and families, they help ensure each student's overall wellbeing and success in boarding life.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Welfare Support:

• Establish positive and trusting relationships with students through being a reliable and caring adult presence in their everyday lives.
• Monitor the emotional and personal wellbeing of students and respond appropriately to their individual needs.
• Maintain open and effective communication with parents or guardians regarding students' progress, welfare, and concerns.

Daily Supervision

• Oversee daily routines including morning wake-up, mealtimes, transport to and from school, study hours, and bedtime.
• Ensure students follow boarding house expectations and uphold appropriate standards of behaviour.
• Provide weekend and public holiday supervision in term time, as required according to a set supervision rota.

Academic Duties

• Supervise and support students during homework and study sessions to help maintain focus and discipline.
• Support and motivate students to develop effective study routines and organisational skills. Encourage them to take ownership of their learning by cultivating independence, self-discipline, and responsibility for completing assignments and preparing for exams.
• Liaise with teaching staff or tutors to stay informed about students' academic progress and any challenges they may face.
• Assist students in managing their time effectively between academic commitments and boarding life activities

Health and Safety

• Attend to minor health issues and liaise with the school nurse or designated staff for more serious medical concerns.
• Ensure the boarding house remains a safe, clean, and secure environment for all students.
• Assist with emergency procedures, including fire drills and other safety protocols.

Community Building

• Plan, organise, and participate in recreational, cultural, and social activities, including weekend activities, to promote an engaging and lively boarding community by managing allocated budgets effectively to ensure activities are well-resourced and enjoyable.
• Promote an environment where all students feel included and valued, encouraging them to treat one another with kindness and respect by supporting the development of positive friendships and teamwork, helping students to build strong, healthy relationships with other boarders.
• Help students feel connected and valued within the boarding community by encouraging participation and involvement. Inspire them to take pride in their living environment and to contribute positively to the house culture and spirit.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting processes, recommending fit-for-purpose technology solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and strategic impact.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends in education technology, data visualisation, and business intelligence to drive innovation in practice.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate records relating to student routines, incidents, and communications.
• Promptly report any safeguarding concerns or disciplinary issues to the Head of Boarding.
• Oversee and monitor the boarding house budget, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and within allocated limits.
• Report safeguarding concerns or disciplinary issues promptly to the Head of Boarding.
• Attend boarding staff meetings and contribute positively to the development of house routines, expectations, and culture.

Essential:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Compassionate and patient, with the ability to set and maintain clear boundaries.

• A team player with a proactive and flexible approach to working hours.

• A commitment to student welfare and safeguarding practices

Desirable:

• Previous experience working with young people in a residential or educational setting or hospitality

industry.
