Procurement Engineer

A global engineering and manufacturing company is hiring a Procurement Engineer (Mechanical) to support sourcing, supplier coordination, and technical cost analysis. You'll play a key role in handling mechanical parts and technical drawings for production and NPI builds.
This is a 1-year contract role with the intention to convert to permanent upon confirmation.
Same benefits as permanent staff, including AWS, performance bonus, and medical coverage.
What's Offered:
- RM5,500 – RM7,500 basic salary + AWS + performance bonus
- Full employee benefits from Day 1 (same as permanent staff)
- Stable MNC exposure with project-based custom engineering work
- Intention to convert to permanent after successful confirmation
Core Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate suppliers for mechanical components and assemblies
- Review and interpret technical drawings for accurate sourcing decisions
- Handle RFQs, cost breakdowns, and supplier quotations
- Follow up on PO delivery, changes, and issue resolution
- Work with engineering teams for design updates and feasibility feedback
- Track and maintain accurate purchasing and project records
- Support material readiness for new builds and change orders (ECO)
- Participate in cost-saving, lead time reduction, and supplier improvement programs
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 2–5 years of experience in technical purchasing or sourcing
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, GD&T, BOM
- Experience in EMS, fabrication, machining, or metal/plastic parts sourcing
- Familiar with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, IFS, etc.)
- Good coordination, follow-up, and supplier communication skills
- Able to work in Johor Bahru and commit to long-term growth
