Overview

The Governance, Standards Practices Manager is responsible for: Assisting the region to operate and meet regulators' obligations, while simultaneously ensuring robust governance oversight. This role is further accountable for supporting the Group Compliance framework, initiatives, and activities, guaranteeing alignment with the Group's strategic direction, prevailing regulatory requirements, and global standards. The role will be reporting to the Head of Governance, Standards & Practices.

Job Responsibilities
 

Functional

• Implement the regulatory requirements / Group standards across overseas branches and subsidiaries, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the policies, guidelines and procedures.

• Review overseas policies in line with local regulatory requirements and Group requirements.

• Provide compliance advisory support on any escalation/support required by overseas branches and subsidiaries in the context of compliance and financial crime compliance.

• Provide support where required to overseas branches and subsidiaries on internal audit or regulator's audit exercise and attend to ad-hoc request(s) / queries from Head of Governance, Standards and Practices, Overseas Head of Compliance, Chief Compliance Officer, BNM, overseas regulator(s).

• Act as the representative at overseas branches and subsidiaries governance committees meeting, including oversight on the compliance reporting to the respective committees meeting, and assist in reviewing overseas branches and subsidiaries reports to governance committee meetings (i.e. HLFG, BRMC, BOD).

Managerial

• Guide, mentor and coach team members on activities and initiatives to build up knowledge and experience on applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines.

• Strong team spirit player with a positive attitude and having the drive to improve processes. Able to work well with all levels of personnel.

• Manage the relationship with all stakeholders.

Organizational

• Review reports tabled at Board and Management Committees (local and overseas) for direction, activity and resources to be channeled towards delivery a desired outcome for the organization in line with the organization's founding principles, objective and values.

• Ensure good record keeping.

• Support initiatives to reengineer existing internal processes to comply with new regulatory requirements.
   

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Banking/Economics/Law

• 5 years and above of working experience with specialization in financial crime or general compliance

• Knowledge of legislative aspects/regulatory requirements of banking and financial institutions and banking.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, through all levels of the organization.

• Good command of spoken and written English.
