Job Summary

The Maintenance Leader & Certified Chargeman is responsible for overseeing all maintenance and engineering operations of the hotel, ensuring that facilities, equipment, and building systems are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with local regulations. This role includes hands-on technical work, supervision of maintenance staff, and coordination with external contractors to support smooth hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Operations

  • Lead and manage daily maintenance operations of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and external areas.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and civil works.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies to minimize downtime and guest inconvenience.
  • Ensure all hotel equipment, machinery, and systems are operating efficiently.

Electrical & Chargeman Duties

  • Perform duties as a Certified Chargeman in compliance with Energy Commission (ST) regulations.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain electrical systems including switchboards, generators, UPS, and related equipment.
  • Ensure electrical safety standards and statutory requirements are strictly followed.
  • Maintain all required licenses, certificates, inspection records, and logbooks.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and guide maintenance technicians, ensuring work quality and adherence to SOPs.
  • Plan and assign maintenance schedules, duty rosters, and daily tasks.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and performance guidance to the maintenance team.

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Liaise with external contractors, service providers, and vendors for repairs, servicing, and inspections.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with hotel standards and safety requirements.
  • Verify completed works before approval and handover.

Safety, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, fire, health, and local authority regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance works, servicing schedules, expenses, and incidents.
  • Support audits, inspections, and renovations when required.

Ad-Hoc & Emergency Support

  • Be on standby and attend ad-hoc maintenance work when required, including midnight or after-hours emergencies.
  • Respond promptly to urgent breakdowns, power failures, water leakage, safety hazards, or critical system failures outside normal working hours.
  • Coordinate with management and relevant departments during emergency situations to ensure minimal disruption to hotel operations and guest safety.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: RM3, RM4,500.00 per month
