Job Summary
The Automotive Inspector is responsible for conducting detailed inspections of used vehicles to ensure accurate assessment, documentation, and listing quality for Mobee Cars Malaysia. This role directly supports Mobee's transaction growth by ensuring all cars meet our inspection and listing standards. Successful candidates must undergo a 1-month hands-on training programme at our Kota Damansara office before deployment to the JB branch.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Inspection & Technical Assessment
- Perform complete 360° inspections of used vehicles (interior, exterior, chassis, undercarriage, mechanical and electrical systems).
- Identify defects, damages, accident signs, wear and tear, and mechanical issues.
- Use diagnostic tools such as OBD scanners, mobile diagnostic devices, and Mobee's CMS inspection module.
- Conduct short road tests when required and safe.
- Produce accurate and detailed vehicle condition reports.
- Take high-quality photos according to Mobee's inspection and listing guidelines.
- Ensure all findings are recorded correctly with transparency.
- Work closely with the Supply Team to relay inspection findings.
- Update the team regarding any seller rescheduling, cancellations, or deviations from expected condition.
- Ensure cars inspected are prepared and ready for the next step in Mobee's workflow.
- Meet car sellers during onsite inspections and explain the inspection process professionally.
- Represent Mobee with excellent service, integrity, and communication.
- Follow Mobee's SOPs, safety guidelines, and inspection SLAs.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Flag any suspected fraud, odometer tampering, or misrepresentation immediately.
Requirements
- Experience in automotive inspection, workshop, service centre, or mechanical repair is an advantage (fresh candidates with basic automotive knowledge are welcome).
- Strong understanding of vehicle components, diagnostics, and common issues.
- Ability to travel for onsite inspections.
- Physically fit and able to handle vehicle inspection tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, honesty, and professionalism.
- Willing to work 6 days a week.
- Must be able to attend 1-month training in Kota Damansara before starting at the JB branch.
