Key Responsibilities

Rework and Repair Execution:

  • Perform complex disassembly of finished products, including sensitive and delicate components, according to established engineering procedures.
  • Expertly execute board-level rework, including soldering and de-soldering of fine-pitch SMD components, BGAs, and other through-hole components.
  • Diagnose the root cause of failures (visual defects, electrical failures, functional issues) to determine the appropriate rework method.
  • Replace defective parts, components, and sub-assemblies with precision and care.
  • Perform mechanical adjustments, calibrations, and part replacements as required.
  • Utilize specialized tools such as microscopes, soldering irons, hot air rework stations, multimeters, and diagnostic software.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Adhere strictly to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Ensure all reworked units meet the original product specifications and quality standards before returning them to the production line.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all rework activities, including the defect found, action taken, and parts used.
  • Comply with all company safety protocols, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) requirements, and 5S standards.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration:

  • Identify recurring defects and work with Quality and Production Engineers to investigate root causes and implement preventive actions.
  • Provide feedback on design for manufacturability and design for excellence based on hands-on rework experience.
  • Assist in training production operators on basic defect identification to prevent recurring issues.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) teams by providing rework analysis and feedback during the prototyping and pilot run phases.

Technical Skills:

  • Essential: Proficiency in using soldering irons, hot air blowers, and other rework equipment under a microscope.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Basic proficiency with electrical measurement tools (e.g., multimeter).
  • Familiarity with ESD controls and cleanroom protocols is a must.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or GMP standards is an advantage.
