We are partnering exclusively with a semiconductor machinery provider in the automation and high-precision equipment industry to identify an experienced Senior/Staff Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Pick and Place Machinery. This is a senior technical role for individuals who want to influence design direction, lead complex machine development, and play a key part in next-generation equipment innovation.

Your new role

As the Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

  • Lead mechanical design for semiconductor-focused pick-and-place machinery, modules, and motion systems.
  • Develop detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks/CREO.
  • Design precision mechanisms including:
  • XY gantries
  • High-speed pick-and-place heads
  • Linear motion assemblies
  • Grippers, end-effectors, vacuum tooling
  • High-accuracy alignment systems
  • Perform engineering analysis such as tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, and motion/simulation studies.
  • Support prototype builds, FAT/SAT, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.
  • Work closely with R&D, electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams for full system integration.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and support project execution.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years' experience in mechanical design, ideally within:
  • Semiconductor equipment
  • Pick-and-place automation
  • High-precision machinery or robotics
  • Strong working knowledge of precision motion systems, actuators, linear guides, and high-accuracy mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks/CREO and solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience working with SEMI standards is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, project-driven engineering environments.
