Job Summary:
The EIU Wireman Grade 1 is responsible for performing skilled electrical and instrumentation installation, maintenance, and repair work in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and safety standards. The role involves wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems, control panels, and instrumentation within industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, connect, and terminate electrical cables, control wiring, and instrumentation circuits according to drawings and standards.
- Assemble, wire, and test control panels, junction boxes, and terminal strips.
- Conduct loop checks, continuity tests, insulation resistance tests, and calibration verification of field instruments.
- Maintain and repair electrical distribution systems, lighting, and power circuits.
- Support commissioning activities by assisting engineers and technicians in testing and verifying system functionality.
- Read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, company standards, and safety regulations.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and corrective actions on electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and test results.
- Report faults, unsafe conditions, or equipment defects to the supervisor immediately.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or trade school training is a plus.
- Proven experience in electrical work, preferably with solar PV systems.
- Understanding of basic electrical theory and principles.
- Ability to work on rooftops and in varying outdoor conditions.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and climb ladders.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Valid Wireman License or equivalent certification.
- Experience with both grid-tied and off-grid systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical installation practices and instrumentation wiring.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Skilled in using hand tools, test meters, and calibration instruments.
- Familiar with PLC/DCS I/O wiring and terminations.
- Awareness of industrial safety standards (e.g., OSHA, IEC, NEC).
Physical and Working Conditions:
- Work may involve confined spaces, heights, and exposure to industrial environments.
- Must wear appropriate PPE and comply with safety procedures.
- May be required to work shifts, weekends, or extended hours as project demands dictate.
Performance Indicators:
- Quality and accuracy of wiring and installations.
- Compliance with safety and technical standards.
- Timeliness of task completion.
- Minimal rework and downtime incidents.
