Responsible to: Country Manager Malaysia / Functional report to Regional MWS Lead

Role Purpose

To support Global Maritime Malaysia, in Marine Warranty Surveying (MWS) and engineering works, including activities such as reviewing engineering calculations/analyses and procedures related to T&I operations for warranted onshore and offshore operations as well as to attend on site (onshore and/or offshore) as MWS surveyor whenever required including vessel inspections. The role will require the candidate to have minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in MWS work, who will be trained to support the team in Project Management.

Naval architects / engineers of several backgrounds are encouraged to apply, such as background from;

• Marine Operations (i.e. project- / field- /installation-engineers)
• Marine Warranty Services
• Hydrodynamics / Mooring Analysis
• Structural Design and Analysis

Duties and Responsibilities

• Delivery of Engineering and Marine Operations

The key dimensions of the role include:

• Provide technical guidance to colleagues at all levels
• Review engineering calculations and procedures produced by contractors
• Undertake independent calculations when needed to verify the calculations submitted
• Advise the client and contractor of any critical areas contained in the engineering that may result in losses or damages during the project execution phase.
• Partake in hazard identification workshops and ensure the risks during the planned installations is as low as possible.
• Attend operations on board vessels or at construction sites, review and approve changes and issue certificates of approval as required.
• Participate in consultancy work with other departments in the company
• Participate in HSE awareness and promote amongst colleagues
• Maintain financial awareness of projects and invoice in a timely manner

• Project overview for technical correctness
• Assurance of high-quality standard for deliverables
• To follow the group Business Management System
• Business Development / Recruitment
• Work with the Country Manager to identify potential business streams
• Maintain and develop contacts and develop new business opportunities
• To work with the Country Manager to meet departmental growth targets
• Attend and carry out business development meetings with clients
• Prepare proposals for new work
• Requirements
• Have a degree qualification in Naval Architecture or related discipline, with offshore construction or offshore operations experience.
• Have excellent Microsoft office skills
• Be able to work both independently and in a small team
• Be a confident self-starter who works proactively
• Preferred Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience
• Be registered with a professional body relevant to offshore engineering
• Utilize technical software to an advanced level efficiently and effectively
• Be familiar with structural design and/or hydrodynamic design procedures
• BOSIET or GWO and Offshore Medical in order to travel offshore
• Experienced in Business Development
• Minimum 4-5 years of experience in Marine Warranty Services
• Accredited member of SOMWS
