As a lecturer in the Department of Computational and Theoretical Sciences (CTS), your responsibilities will span across teaching, curriculum development, research, and community engagement, aiming to deliver an outstanding educational experience. The candidate shall be a member of the staff of the Department of Computational and Theoretical Sciences (CTS) assigned by KOS and the candidate shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.

The candidate should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.

As a lecturer and member of the academic staff, the candidate is required to attend any meetings related to administrative positions they may hold. The staff is required to participate and contribute to the department's programs and events. This attendance is mandated by appointments made under the IIUM or through administrative directives issued by the Rector, Dean, or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department/Institute/Office/Mahallah.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development: Design and update comprehensive CTS courses that reflect the latest industry trends, syllabus design, and academic standards related to statistics/data analytics topics.

Teaching responsibilities: Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, tutorials, and course plans across a variety of CTS subjects on statistical/data analytics topics. Able to teach some other core mathematical subjects (if any) relevant to the department's needs.

Student Assessment: Create and evaluate examinations, assignments, and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback.

Active involvement: Required to attend any meetings and participate in any activities/events/programs organized by the department/Kulliyyah and contribute to the success of the programs.

Research Contribution: Active in conducting research activities and publish impactful research in the CTS field and supervise Final Year Project (FYP), Mini projects, and Postgraduate students' research projects, dissertations, and theses.

Professional Development: Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities.

Community and Industry Engagement: Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements.

Mentorship: Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success.

Other Requirements (if any)

• Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in mathematics/statistics or related fields from any international or local institutions of higher learning recognized by the Government or equivalent. In addition to this essential expertise, proficiency or specialization in any of the following areas is highly desirable:

Certification in any Data Analytics/Data Manipulation/Data Visualization field

Strong foundation in Statistical Modelling/Statistical Methods/Inferential Statistics/Stochastic Modelling or any related field in Statistics

Excellent communication, collaboration, good personality, able to cope with stress and work under pressure and has good interpersonal skills.

A strong track record of published research and participation in the academic community is highly desirable.
