Software Engineer Role

The Software engineer role in the Metrics Platform team is a hybrid software and data engineering role. In this role, you will be a member of the team that will design and develop Grab’s Metrics platform and will provide support for Grabbers who are users of the Metrics Platform to help those that aren’t users yet to on-board onto our platform.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with the other engineers on the team to develop innovative solutions for one or more of the metric platforms workstreams, which span:
    1. Metrics storage and serving
    2. Metrics metadata
    3. Metrics engineering
    4. Metrics testing and certification
    5. And more
  2. Collaborate with other engineering teams in Grab to integrate their systems with the metrics platform so that they can make use of the high quality metrics that we can make available to them.
  3. Help expand the coverage of the platform by collaborating with metrics publishers and consumers to help them work more efficiently with our platform.
  4. Oversee the maintenance and optimizations of the systems and automations on our platform to ensure that our platform is always operating optimally and providing high quality metrics and metrics services to Grabbers.
Qualifications What you need to succeed:
  1. A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, data science, analytics, or a related field.
  2. Some experience with at least one of the programming languages such as Go, Python, Scala, or Java.
  3. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.
  4. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders.
How will you stand out from the crowd:
  1. A working understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  2. Knowledge of big data technologies like Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Apache Airflow and streaming data using frameworks like Apache Flink will be an added advantage.
  3. Knowledge of how to work with cloud-based data platforms and services such as AWS is highly valued.
