Malaysia Spectricity Full time

Spectricity started end of 2018 as a spin-off of imec, a leading R&D center in nanoelectronics and digital technologies in Belgium. Spectricity develops and manufactures spectral sensing solutions using CMOS technologies. These solutions are designed for high-volume production and use in consumer and mobile devices.
Within the dynamic, multidisciplinary and growing team of technologists, hardware- and software engineers and application experts, we are looking for an enthusiastic Semiconductor Process technician to work at XFab (Kuching, Sarawak/Malaysia). This role will be part of our growing Operations department.

Your main responsibilities will be to

  • Hands-on fab work on critical process and metrology and inspection equipment in conjunction with foundry engineers
  • Support logistical activities
  • Gather inline and end of line data to check if processes are in spec and yield targets are met
  • Work pro-actively together with X-Fab towards high yield processing by investigating SPC data, failure modes, and identifying root causes for yield losses

In your role you will

  • Work closely together with and under supervision of the Spectricity Senior foundry engineer on site
  • Hands-on fab work (~60%): inline measurements, wafer processing, wafer inspections, wafer handling, logistics etc.
  • Use your problem-solving skills and creative thinking to overcome technology and process issues

Your profile, skills and talents

  • You have at least a certificate / diploma in engineering, manufacturing or any other relevant field
  • You preferably have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment working with semiconductor equipment.
  • You are an organized, disciplined worker with a logical mindset
  • You are experienced and proficient in handling expensive wafers
  • Experience with in-line inspection, metrology or deposition systems is a strong plus
  • You can express yourself in English and Bahasa Malaysia and have good communication skills
  • You are prepared to work onsite at our X-fab foundry partner in Kuching, Sarawak/Malaysia
  • Initially, this position supports a dayshift but in the future a multishift system will be implemented with different process technicians, and the candidate must be willing to work in a different shift when necessary.
  • Able and willing to work (paid) overtime or weekends if needed

What Spectricity offers

An exciting experience in a dynamic start-up environment, in a highly motivated multi-disciplinary team with background in Europe with a focus on Asia. You will have plenty of opportunity to learn and be creative, to be entrepreneurial and to shape the future of a company. Spectricity offers a competitive salary and benefit package, also depending on experience and expertise.

“I wasn’t really looking for a new job. So, when I was asked to apply for the Computer Vision Engineer vacancy at Spectricity, I was a little hesitant. But some research and a chat with the team soon triggered my interest.

I got the job and from day one, I was instantly embraced by the motivated team working on this challenging project – the development of a spectral sensor for consumer devices. As Computer Vision Engineer, I join forces with a variety of colleagues, from Applications Engineers to System Engineers, Test Engineers, Software Developers and more. Each and every one of them is hard-working and passionate about spectral sensing, which motivates me to give it my all.

One of my main tasks is to develop new algorithms that bridge the gap between this new spectral sensor and a wide range of exciting applications. I get to play around with machine learning, neural nets and plain old linear algebra – demanding yet very exciting too.

But at Spectricity, we don’t just work hard. We also love to celebrate our successes with a glass of champagne or a (Belgian) beer at the local pub.

Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t hesitate a second to apply for a job at Spectricity”

Vincent, Computer Vision Engineer at Spectricity.
