ERM Malaysia is seeking a talented and experienced Biodiversity consultant to help support our growing workload, as well as our considerable growth ambitions. The role will be based in our Malaysia office and will form part of the ERM Asia Pacific Business Unit Biodiversity Team.

This position would be well suited to an ecologist experienced in consent-based consultancy and with experience in, or passion for, working in the Oil &Gas, Low Carbon Energy Transition (LCET) and infrastructure sectors. The ideal candidate will bring experience in biodiversity as applied to impact assessment and sustainable finance (preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments, Critical habitat assessments, Biodiversity Management Plans and Biodiversity Action Plans). Ideally, the candidate is also preferred to have experience with GIS, data management and statistical analysis. Experience as applied to corporate biodiversity nature positive strategies is also welcome.

You will be part of a dynamic team in Malaysia and will help drive the practice in Malaysia and Brunei through our network of biodiversity and sustainability practitioners who share experience, knowledge, and industry best practice.

Requirements:

5+ years demonstrated experience working in the field of biodiversity management and/or conservation (experience with Landscape ecology, impact assessment, Critical Habitat Assessments, Biodiversity Action Plans) Geographic information Systems, statistics , data management Excellent writing skills in both English and Malay. Fluent in English is mandatory. Consulting experience is preferred.

What you will do:

Co-ordinating, designing, scheduling, and undertaking biodiversity surveys within Southeast Asia. Supporting team members with the project deliverables. Writing technical reports, as well as assessments (EIA) and other deliverables Engaging with and providing expert advice to project managers, stakeholders, and clients of ERM Global. Provide advice and support to junior team members including mentoring. Support Project Managers in the delivery of projects to schedule and budget.

Skills & Experience:

An undergraduate degree in ecology/zoology, marine science or related field, or sufficient experience and knowledge. Experience coordinating and undertaking a range of biodiversity and ecology surveys. Experience with TNFD standards, NPI assessment and Biodiversity Net Gain would be welcomed. Experience in marine offshore surveys would be an advantage. Report-writing experience. Knowledge of protected species, indicative species and mitigation as well as relevant guidance and legislation of Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
