Key Job Responsibilities


An Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS) is an entry-level construction professional who works closely with Quantity Surveyors (QS) by supporting the QS in various aspects of project cost management.

The primary responsibility of an AQS is to assist in the measurement and valuation of construction work, ensuring accurate and timely cost assessments.


Job Descriptions

Measurement and Valuation:

  • Assist in the measurement of construction work in accordance with relevant standards and specifications.
  • Support the Quantity Surveyor in preparing and reviewing bills of quantities (BOQ).
  • Contribute to the valuation of work done onsite, considering variations and change orders.

Cost Estimation:

  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Work closely with the QS to analyze and compare costs for different project elements.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and correspondence.
  • Update and manage databases related to project costs and quantities.

Tendering Process:

  • Support the QS in the preparation and evaluation of tender documents.
  • Assist in the analysis of tender submissions and provide input on contractor selection.

Cost Reporting:

  • Assist in monitoring project costs against budgets and providing regular updates.

Collaboration:

  • Liaise with project managers and project engineers to gather relevant information.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on costrelated matters.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Assist in the resolution of contractual issues and disputes.

Job Requirement

  • Minimum Diploma in Quantity Surveying, or fresh graduate encouraged to apply
  • Previous experience in a similar role or internship is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficient in relevant software tools, such as Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailoriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and legal requirements.

Salary:
RM2, RM3,500.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Kuala Lumpur: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Diploma/Advanced Diploma (required)

Experience:

Quantity Surveyor: 1 year (required)
