Job Description:
Manufacturing Engineer performs the lead role in the implementation of manufacturing processes and techniques - and the implementation of LEAN and use of Six Sigma tools. He/she is the owner of their respective manufacturing processes and standards and enforces implementation by training shop floor personnel, implementing and monitoring metrics, and oversight. He/she is responsible to solve complex manufacturing problems and take an active role in troubleshooting quality and production yield related issues within manufacturing. These activities are performed in line with company strategy, and in conformity to relevant standards.

QHSE Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve personal QHSE objectives;
  2. Accountable for work place ergonomics and safety;
  3. Understand and follow the QHSE management system;
  4. Lead the HARC (Hazard Analysis and Risk Control) process development;

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the implementation of key elements of Lean, such as: standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout and work sequence (routing) optimization, training development matrix, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM (total preventive maintenance), cell design, and quick changeover/batch-size optimization.
  2. Implement process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in areas such as process yield (e.g. First Pass Yield, Rolled Throughput Yield), cycle time reduction and productivity.
  3. Responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI), such as process development, tool validation, work instruction preparation, training development etc.
  4. Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and DFMs (e.g. through Engineering Change Requests - ECRs).
  5. Review and sign-off on Engineering Change Orders (ECO) that impact Inventory - including product life cycle issues,obsolescence, etc.
  6. Implement Engineering Change Orders and coordinate closely with other functional teams on manufacturing and production related matters.
  7. Creates, implements, and monitors key performance indicators and metrics on manufacturing process capability and product quality.
  8. Monitoring and reducing process cost.
  9. Responsible to assist with investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for manufacturing quality issues.

Authority:

  • Evaluate and qualify operator competency
  • Stop Production due to quality issue

Education, skills and experience:

  1. Bachelors in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of higher degree and experience
  2. Entry level position with a listed technical degree and strong interest in manufacturing. Otherwise, a significant background or technical assignment in a manufacturing environment is required - including machine shop, industrial assembly plant, or other engineered products manufacturing environment
  3. Knowledge of LEAN Six Sigma techniques and metrics
  4. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing
  5. Knowledge of equipment and tools
