Veterinary Assistant

- Assist the veterinarian in treatment of the patients.
- Provide physiotherapy when required and instructed by a veterinarian.
- Walk patients at least twice a day or as directed
- Give medications as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Ensure the ward area, isolation room, consultation rooms and pharmacy are kept clean
- Make sure every diagnostic equipment that is used is clean so as not to affect the accuracy of the results of the tests.
- Monitor stock of controlled drugs, other medications and instruments in the clinic
- Place order with the head office once stock of drugs is low.
- Assist veterinarians to dispense and label medication as instructed.
- Prepare surgical instruments and gowns in the surgery room
- Update patient records with laboratory results and other relevant information such as drug dispensed when instructed by veterinarian.
- Set up appointments with clients for followup cases and vaccination and heartworm prevention boosters.
- Good interpersonal relationship and communication skills
- Diligent and vary effective in completing task and duties
- Able to work Rotation Shift (day & night shift), weekends and Public Holidays
- A pet lover or must have love or animals
- Experience in handling animals would be preferred
- Those without required qualifications but have the relevant working experience in a hospital environment are welcome to apply
- Provide compassionate care for pets
- Restrain pets for veterinarians and technicians
- Monitor and collect urine and fecal samples as needed
- Monitor, record, and report physical signs of hospitalized/boarded pets
- Clean cages, runs, boarding area and/or hospital facilities, including exam rooms, treatment room, exotics and isolation area, employee lounge, bathrooms and doctor's office
- Maintain reception area in a neat and sanitary condition
- Provide clean bedding, water and litter pans for pets
- Feed and exercise hospitalized/boarded pets as needed
- Take incoming pets to appropriate areas
- Bathe pets and prepare pets for dismissal
- Retrieve pets that are being discharged
- Restock ward with food from food room
- Bring retail food to reception area
- Restock reception area shelves
- Do laundry
- Wash and sanitize pet dishes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Diploma / Advanced Diploma / Higher Graduate Diploma / DVM / DKM Level 4 / DLKM Level 5
