DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

  • Supports the team to administer nursing care services in the form of accurate assessment, management and documentation so that patients' needs are being met; consistently demonstrating work output expected from the required level of competence and performance for the job.
  • Represents the department to promote and work effectively and cohesively with physician(s) and other multidisciplinary healthcare team members outside the unit, to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum.
  • Establishes department flow of communication ie. forms of communication, format, timeliness, content etc., to enable delivery of essential information related to patients' assessment and treatment in a timely manner and according to company prescribed format and manner; and to safeguard confidentiality of patient information.
  • Evaluates and reviews input or ideas generated by department team and make available resources and opportunities for team members to engage their involvement, and encourage innovative approach to enhance service quality and patient safety.
  • Works with superiors to identify opportunities to enhance desirable management and leadership styles that promote conducive working climate and staff retention.

Quality Improvement & Risk management

  • Sets annual department quality objectives and targets. At least once a year.
  • Works with superior to set department service level targets and indicators and initiate programs and action plans to rectify and continuously enhance the level of customer service, patient care and nursing services provided by the department.
  • Implements department Standard Operating Procedures and policies and achieve quality objectives and targets. Adhere to company standard operating procedures (SOP) and policies. Communicate, inculcate and initiate appropriate actions to uphold compliance with company and department SOPs and policies.
  • Leads and initiates immediate corrective actions to address operating incidents and patient/family concerns regarding patient care and impacting the department objectives. Identify stakeholders, and communicate and collaborate with them to detect and prevent risks of recurrent incidents.

Customer Service

  • Collaborates with support services departments (eg. housekeeping, store and inventory, building services, clinical services, biomedical engineering, business office, wards and operating theatre) to improve and enhance interdepartmental workflows and operational effectiveness; in order to ensure achieve best practice standards in terms of coordinated plans of treatment, customer focused care and costeffective utilization of services.

Manpower Planning & Management

  • Implements appropriate workforce planning, scheduling tools and system(s), to monitor and supervise the unit Evaluate the allocation and utilization of staffing plans based on continual changes in patient population/needs to provide the best level of patient care while identifying savings opportunities.
  • Works with Nursing Education and identify department team members training and development needs.

Professional Development

  • Plans and set objectives and goals for department team members timely and in alignment with department goals and objectives. Conducts reviews on achievement of objectives progress with staffs.
  • Provides feedback on progress made as well as opportunities for improvement. Work with Human Capital team to implement performance improvements where necessary, and provide coaching and guidance to enhance competent performers' job performance.
  • Participates actively in learning and development interventions identified by company to acquire required knowledge and skills for current and/or future job.
Ensures attendance of continuing nursing education programs (CNE) and achieved sufficient CPD point for Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) renewal.

Requirements:

  • Diploma / Degree in Nursing
  • Valid APC / RON
  • Relevant Post Basiccertification in Perioperative Nursing/ Critical Care Nursing/ Oncology Nursing.

-- Minimum 5 years relevant experience with at least One (1) year supervisory role.
