We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our team and lead our development department. The CTO will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for our technology team, driving innovation, and ensuring that our solutions remain at the forefront of industry trends. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both software development and technical knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Provide visionary leadership to the development team, setting clear goals and objectives aligned with the company's mission and strategic objectives.
    • Develop and implement a technology strategy that supports business growth and innovation, while ensuring alignment with industry best practices and trends.
    • Collaborate with executive management to define the company's technology roadmap and long-term goals.
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and mentor a team of developers through team leads, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
    • Recruit, train, and retain top talent, ensuring that the team has the skills and resources needed to succeed.
    • Establish and enforce development standards and best practices to ensure code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Technology Adoption and Innovation:
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and evaluate their potential impact on our products and services.
    • Drive the adoption of the latest technologies and development methodologies, keeping our solutions competitive and ahead of the curve.
    • Champion a culture of innovation within the development team, encouraging experimentation and creative problem-solving.
  • Architecture and Development:
    • Oversee the architecture and design of our software solutions, ensuring that they are scalable, secure, and robust.
    • Lead the transformation of our current monolithic applications to microservices architecture, driving architectural decisions and overseeing the migration process.
    • Hands-on involvement in development, when necessary, particularly in Java-based frameworks, Spring Boot, RDBMS, NoSqlDB and EDB Postgres etc

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Candidates must have 20+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a technology-driven organisation, preferably in the software solutions or insurance industry.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in Java-based frameworks, Spring Boot, RDBMS, NoSqlDB, EDB Postgres etc.
  • Strong technical abilities in Docker, Kubernetes and other cloud-related technologies.
  • Experience leading teams through technology transformations, particularly in transitioning from monolithic to microservices architecture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving innovation and achieving results.
