About the Role

This role has impact to the Technology Division and AIA Bhd. as a whole as the person is tasked to monitor, control and report on the utilization of projects expenditure.

The expected impact includes:

  • Better control of Projects costs, leading to better control of escalating Projects costs
  • Providing insights into the financial performance of projects.
  • More accurate Projects expenditure forecasting, leading to better financial planning for AIA Bhd.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Portfolio Lead and Project Manager to compile and consolidate the financial performance of projects.
  • Monitor project expenditures against approved business case.
  • Develop and update financial forecasts based on project progress and changes in scope.
  • Variance Analysis to analyze and explain the variances of large expenditure versus the allocated budget to the management.
  • Monthly Financial Management Reporting to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including portfolio lead, project manager, procurement, BAU tech finance, finance, and others to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Provide financial insights and advises on project-related matters (cost drivers and recommend cost-saving measures when applicable)
  • Financial analysis of any ad-hoc issues
Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet operational and/or other requirements.

Financial and Non-Financial Measures:

  • Monthly Forecasts - Reasonableness of forecasts
  • Variance Analysis - Accuracy and clarity in explaining the rationale of the variances.
  • Monthly Management Reporting - Speed and accuracy of the Monthly Management Reports.
  • Process Improvements to the current monthly manual reconciliation process - Reduction in time spent to reconcile SAP reports.

Communication Requirements:

  • Internal
  • Able to articulate updates to the direct manager in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to present confidently and concisely at presentations to the senior management and business users.
  • External
  • Able to engage with multiple stakeholders to obtain latest status or information in a timely manner.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Graduate Finance-related degree.
  • At least 3 years' working experience in a Finance position.
  • Experience in financial analysis, financial modeling to support and drive business decisions.
  • Results-driven; a proven record to work well under pressure, with a high degree of adaptability and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship skills to engage with key stakeholders at the senior management level and working level
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented and analytical, with an ability to communicate complex issues in simple terms.
