Who we are looking for?

Due to our continued growth, Subsea7 has exciting permanent staff opportunities for Principal or Senior Engineer Pipeline Installation Analysis to join our Pipeline Group (PG) team responsible for delivering fit-for-purpose rigid pipeline installation analysis to projects and/or tenders supported by the PG with a specific focus on safe and cost-effective installation operations. These roles will be based in our Kuala Lumpur office and due to restrictions, the preference would be for those who are either Malaysian nationals or those who have a current right to work in the country, but we can give consideration to those who do not hold this depending on their level of experience. Our Pipeline Installation Analysis Engineers are recognized for their expertise, and those in the higher-level positions also for their management skills and can be in charge of specific critical subjects either on business improvement or projects. You will either be a part of or, depending on experience, be in charge of a team of installation analysis project engineers, dealing with rigid pipeline installation analysis in projects, FEED, or tender.

What does the role involve?

Responsibilities of the Principal/Senior Pipeline Installation Analysis Engineers can involve but are not limited to:

  1. Perform in autonomy installation analysis of rigid pipeline in S-lay, J-lay and/or Reel-lay.
  2. Support an installation analysis team to ensure successful delivery of analysis activities on all projects supported by the Pipeline Group.
  3. Give direct engineering guidance to PG engineers on specific subject matters.
  4. Support delegated external interfaces such as clients, subcontractors, etc. and internal interfaces, such as SCM, etc.
  5. Accountable for planning of your analysis scope and one of their teams.
  6. Give direct engineering guidance to PG analysis engineers on specific subject matters.
  7. Responsible for ensuring the standard of engineering services provided complies with relevant company engineering standards with a clear focus on the commerciality of engineering solutions.
  8. Ensure installation analysis solution is fit for purpose while meeting client specifications.
  9. Provides engineering support during operations with occasional periods offshore or on yard.
  10. Promote safety culture and initiatives to the installation engineering team throughout the onshore and offshore delivery phases.
  11. Participates actively in engineers' training and development.
  12. Participates actively in the Pipeline Group department know-how consolidation.
  13. Proposes innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction.
What do you need to have?
  • Ideally, you will have experience in Leading engineering teams (essential for Lead).
  • You will have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience (typically in the Oil & Gas market but other relevant experience will be considered).
  • You should be proficient with Orcaflex and familiar with systems such as Python, VBA, and Abaqus is desirable.
  • You should be a clear communicator, able to speak with all levels within the business, who is comfortable working on their own and as part of a team.
  • You will have extensive report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work, as well as the ability to prioritize and organize your work accordingly to meet deadlines set by management.
  • You will be highly motivated and be able to show a demonstrable commitment to HSE and Quality.
  • You should have a commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
  • This role may involve short spells of overseas travel, so candidates may need to show a willingness and flexibility.
