With a commitment to excellence and innovation, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Risk Management. This role will play a key part in ensuring the effective identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks associated with our operations.

Position Summary: The AVP for Risk Management will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive risk management framework to safeguard the organization from potential threats and uncertainties. The successful candidate will lead risk assessment initiatives, oversee compliance with regulatory requirements, and work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance the company's overall risk resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Identification and Assessment:
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential risks to the organization.
    • Collaborate with various departments to ensure a thorough understanding of operational, financial, strategic, and compliance-related risks.
    • Develop and maintain a risk register, documenting identified risks, their potential impact, and mitigation strategies.
  2. Risk Mitigation and Strategy:
    • Design and implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
    • Develop and enhance risk management policies and procedures to align with industry best practices.
    • Monitor and track the effectiveness of risk mitigation initiatives and adjust strategies as necessary.
  3. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
    • Stay abreast of relevant regulations and ensure the company's compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
    • Work closely with legal and regulatory affairs teams to address and mitigate compliance risks.
  4. Communication and Reporting:
    • Prepare regular risk reports for executive leadership, highlighting key risk indicators and mitigation efforts.
    • Communicate risk-related information to relevant stakeholders and foster a risk-aware culture within the organization.
  5. Incident Response and Crisis Management:
    • Develop and implement an incident response and crisis management plan to address unforeseen events promptly.
    • Coordinate with emergency response teams to ensure the organization's readiness to manage and mitigate crisis situations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CRM, FRM) is a plus.
  • Proven experience in risk management, preferably in the utilities or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in implementing risk management initiatives.
