  • To plan, train, supervise, and motivate subordinates to achieve department goals through the set of company values. Periodically review and evaluate subordinates' performance.
  • Responsible for developing, characterizing, and optimizing processes for new product introduction/development and sustaining product engineering activities based on proper studies (e.g. Design of Experiment, risk assessment, equipment & process capability).
  • Lead control plan and PFMEA development and maintenance activities.
  • Generate and maintain standardized work documents.
  • Define equipment preventive maintenance plan in collaboration with the maintenance team. Provide training on machine maintenance, operation, and processes when necessary. Assist in major machine breakdown troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical support or solutions for SMT process to resolve critical issues in the production line.
  • Participate in and review traceability for the respective area and improve timely.
  • Responsible for process & yield improvement, cost reduction, and cycle time reduction. Apply statistical methods, systematic problem-solving tools (e.g., fault tree analysis, 3x5xwhy, DOE, 6-Sigma, Kepner Tregoe), or management tools (e.g., CIP) to achieve desired results.
  • Work closely with other departments to comply, standardize, and improve processes via PFMEA and PRE/PRP.
  • Perform equipment capability study and process evaluation. If necessary, prepare ROI and organize collateral purchase.
  • Achieve department goals through continuous process improvement activities.
  • Provide support in process and line audits, technical advice requests from outsourced workbench (EWB), and project teams.
  • Any other duties assigned by superiors from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Material Engineering or relevant fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SMT processes and experience in leading/coaching.
  • Possess practical and theoretical know-how that can be applied in new and changing contexts, coach others on competence, and serve as a subject-matter expert in the section.
  • Knowledge areas include SMT equipment and processes, production defect categories, lean production concepts, SPC and statistics, Minitab software, PCB basics, Control plan, and P-FMEA.
  • Knowledge of rework, X-ray, and physical analysis methods are added advantages.
  • Understand the interaction among different aspects of incoming material, equipment, process, product design, and able to integrate these for problem-solving, process optimization, and stabilization.
  • Good analytical and comprehensive problem-solving capability to drive for conclusive technical cause finding; attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with working with 8D process, FTA, Ishikawa diagram.
