Responsibilities:

  1. Involve and provide technical input into new projects, including pre-FEED and FEED Engineering deliverables/assessment - Vessel Selections / Design Basis & Philosophy i.e. Stability, Hull Strength & Fatigue and Steel Renewal by ISE & TSA complete with inspections for candidate vessels.
  2. Prepare vessel stability analysis consisting of Intact & Damage Stability Calculation and Longitudinal Strength (Shear Force & Bending Moments) with various conditions based on Clients and Class requirements.
  3. Prepare Basic Naval Architect calculations and drawings like hydrostatic properties, freeboard calculation, tonnage calculations, lines plan, general arrangement, tank capacity plan, and fire control plan of the vessel.
  4. Prepare weight control procedure, monitoring, and produce weight control reports from various disciplines.
  5. Vessel inspection procedure & reporting, detailed selection of candidate vessels reports for FPSO Conversion bids, steel weight calculations, fabrication estimation, tender preparation/support.
  6. Provide input into the design of marine systems and accommodation/living quarter layouts of FPSO conversions.
  7. Interface and provide technical assistance, review Vendor proposals, conduct TBE, and resolve technical issues during engineering procurement support for all FPSO item packages.

Asset Integrity:

  1. Provide naval architectural support to on and off-site project teams, vessel operators, and vessel crew.
  2. Focal person and assigned SME for Naval Architect (Asset Integrity) – Hull Structure, LQ across the fleets.
  3. Technical review support and coordination for Management of Change (MOC) for all assets/FPSO.
  4. Develop, manage, maintain, and improve inspections and maintenance for Hull Structure including tank inspections.
  5. Recommend changes to existing integrity plan monitoring (inspection) and assessment system within CMMS BASSnet, based upon historical analyses and best industry practices.
  6. Be the focal point for stability in the event of a vessel emergency and oversee the fleet naval architecture requirements.
  7. Technical review and support for ABS ISIP plans and UWILD SoW.
  8. Ensure that the weight logs and stability programmes of all the fleet are up to date and within Class approval.
  9. Conduct continuous improvement of asset integrity by reassessing all maintenance strategies related to hull structures, LQ, and corrosion management plan (CMP).
  10. Provide effective technical advice to the inspection team, ensuring threats are evaluated, procedures are followed, and work is completed in accordance with the company technical procedures.
  11. Perform effective review of inspection data, results trending, and remnant life assessments, perform fitness-for-service assessments and provide recommendations for repair and replacement methodologies.
  12. Provide timely and accurate reports to the Integrity Team Leader as required, informing of any anomalies and recommending actions to be taken.
  13. Ensure all engineering activities are performed in accordance with accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards and that activities are performed in accordance with the health, safety, and environmental policy.

Experience:

  1. Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field is essential.
  2. Experience: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in naval architecture or marine engineering, with a focus on FPSO design and operations.
  3. Industry Experience: Prior experience in the offshore oil and gas sector, particularly with FPSO projects.
  4. Design Software Proficiency: Experience with naval architecture software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf, and specific FPSO design tools).
  5. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as those from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and classification societies (e.g., DNV GL, ABS).
  6. Structural Analysis: Strong skills in structural and stability analysis of marine vessels.
  7. Hydrodynamics: Understanding of hydrodynamic principles and their application in FPSO design.

Added Advantage:

  1. Professional Registration: Registration with a relevant engineering authority (e.g., Board of Engineers Malaysia) may be required or preferred.
  2. Safety Training: Relevant safety certifications for offshore work, such as BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training).
