Role and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the sustaining engineering for the products produced in VAT-MY and supporting design related activities throughout the product life cycle of product series. Working closely with cross-functional departments including business unit, operation, quality, field application and so on for all engineering related matters, assuring that the products are shipped within all relevant VAT and customer specification.

  1. In depth understanding of products including design, machining, assembly and the surrounding processes.
  2. Possess strong problem solving skill, able to find root cause, implementing short and long term measures.
  3. Have sense of responsibility and able to work independently. Taking technical ownership of the product, actively driving improvements and keeping the product up to date.
  4. Supporting other peers in topics like DFMEA/PFMEA, quality case, escalations, audits and etc.
  5. Act as checker to verify new design requirement from application and product management team before distributing the information to the designer.
  6. Support customers together with product manager and application engineer on the product related issue including customer complaint and audit.
  7. Taking ownership on dedicated products including trouble shooting.
  8. Technical and quality support for operations.
  9. Technical support in Cost Improvement projects.
  10. Optimize product's performance in collaboration with design engineer.
  11. Verify and optimize manufacturability with manufacturing departments, supply quality engineers and project buyers.
  12. Supporting all changes in regard to supply chain, manufacturing and assembly processes.
  13. Lead investigation and analysis of problems and drive implementation of solutions for the design-related issue escalated by the customer.
  14. Work together with designers to transform design ideas into executable plans.
  15. Estimation workload distribution ("70% coordination & 30% design" basis).
  16. Must be able to travel to the customer site to support the field related issues if necessary.

Qualifications and Key skills:

  1. Degree in mechanical engineering.
  2. Strong skills in 3D-CAD (NX preferable) and PLM systems as well as MS-Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  3. Ability to work in a team and good communication skills, also in English, for cooperation with production and product management.
  4. Experience in project management (structured working method) is added advantages.
  5. Enjoy working on strategic issues.
  6. Strong analytical skills.
  7. Experience in change management.
  8. Language comprehension (local language, English).

Special skills (such as special certifications):

  1. Knowledge to vacuum industry technology are a big asset.
  2. Experience in design and application of mechatronic components (Motor, sensor, heaters etc).
  3. Experience in the production of the cast parts, sheet metal parts, injection molding parts, etc. will be value added.
  4. Person needs to be agile and creative, self-motivated and focussed to meeting customer needs.
