Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the accounting and finance function by developing and maintaining best practices in financial management, ensuring alignment with industry standards, and driving financial strategy to support the company's growth and profitability.
  • Manage banking relationships, cash management, and Treasury-related activities by negotiating with financial institutions to secure optimal credit facilities, overseeing forex hedging strategies, and ensuring sufficient liquidity for business operations, CAPEX investments, and working capital requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial processes, systems, and policies by developing and implementing internal financial controls that safeguard assets, minimize risks, and ensure compliance with MFRS (Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and Companies Act 2016 regulations.
  • Conduct tax analysis to optimize operations by identifying tax incentives, ensuring compliance with Malaysian tax laws (Income Tax Act, Sales & Service Tax, Imported Service Tax, Withholding Tax, and Transfer Pricing Regulations), and implementing tax-efficient business structures to minimize liabilities.
  • Provide oversight on tax, internal controls, and audit-related matters by coordinating with tax consultants, ensuring readiness for internal and external audits, maintaining compliance with LHDN (Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia) regulations, and addressing audit findings to strengthen governance.
  • Manage the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning process by developing data-driven financial models, assessing economic and industry trends, and aligning financial strategies with business expansion, refinery projects, and downstream investment.
  • Work with consultants on the preparation and audit of the company's financial statements in accordance with IFRS by ensuring full compliance with global accounting standards, streamlining audit processes, and proactively addressing financial reporting issues to maintain investor confidence and regulatory approval.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in accounting practices aligned with legislative requirements.
  • Solid theoretical foundation and hands-on experience in applying IFRS, government support programs, and funding mechanisms.
  • Proficient in financial analysis principles and methodologies.
  • Preferred qualifications: Registered MIA or CPA.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and tax regulations.
  • Highly detail-orientated, well-organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
