Responsibilities:
  • Plan and schedule jobs for Machinists and machine utilization for Manufacturing to meet production goals.
  • Responsible to ensure that Machinists understand the product specifications from customer and carry out the work as per customer specifications to meet the required quality.
  • Monitor and support the operation of 3-axis, 4-axis or 5-axis CNC milling machine to keep them running efficiently and to produce machined parts that meet specifications and according to procedures, programs and engineering drawings.
  • Responsible to explain and ensure Machinists understand and able to carry out their job as per the shop floor documents.
  • Responsible to inform the CNC Programmer about the performance of cutting tools and machining methods when products produced did not meet the specification and cycle time.
  • Train Machinists to perform cutter adjustments either by tool offset, geometry offset or physical sizing of boring bars at the machine to ensure parts meet specification.
  • Identify root causes and corrective action to resolve production process and quality issues.
  • Communicate the status of all jobs and issues in production at shift change to ensure a continued and smooth workflow.
  • Lead, supervise and motivate a team of machine operators, machinists and senior machinists in production continual improvement and drive productivity in the manufacturing department.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate with various manufacturing section to achieve quality output and meet production schedule.
  • To check and ensure sufficient manpower, machineries and materials are available to meet production output.
  • Liaise with other departments regarding incoming and outgoing goods, parts quality, customer complaint or feedback, status of production schedule, production planning schedule and tools requirement.
  • Constantly looking for ways to reduce cycle time, reduce waste of resources and improve efficiency of setups.
  • Stay current on machining technology by learning new techniques and learning how to operate new machines.
  • Help machinists and machine operators with problem solving, troubleshooting, adjustments and setups.
  • Track daily output in relation to performance standards.
  • Conduct training in machine operations, work procedures and safety procedures for the machinists or assign training of machinists to experienced senior machinists.
  • Responsible to ensure that machinists and operators strictly follow the company's rules and regulations.
  • Responsible to ensure a safe and healthy work environment by knowing, following and enforcing all environmental, health and safety rules, policies and procedures for work area and take responsibility to ensure that personal work activity is conducted in such a way so as not to affect the safety of themselves or others.
Requirements:
  • Certificate in Precision Machining Technology level 3 or Diploma in Manufacturing Technology; or 5 years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of machine and manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge of tooling, speeds and feeds, offsets and make program changes.
  • Good understanding of Geometrical Dimensional Tolerances.
  • Balance of productivity and quality focus.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good spoken and written communication skills.
