Electronics Repair Specialist

The Electronics Repair Specialist is expected to be hands-on in the diagnosis and repair of the most common industrial types of electronic and electrical equipment and controls such as VFDs, HMI, PLC modules, Servo Drives, etc. He will assist in developing new or updated electronic systems, components, or products and ensure all repairs meet safety and performance standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Repairs, installs, and inspects electrical or electronic systems as directed through diagrams, drawings, or specifications.
• Determines material or replacement needs and a logical method for repair; takes appropriate action to meet those needs and makes repairs.
• Ensures local, state, and national electrical codes are followed and proper materials are used throughout electrical systems.
• Manages and installs cables and wiring for various systems.
• Performs safety checks to ensure design plans are feasible in various conditions and that systems comply with all safety requirements.
• Analyzes potentially dangerous electrical equipment and takes immediate action to resolve the issue.
• Develops and maintains records related to electronic and electrical equipment, including tracking repairs and installations.
• Maintains inventory of repair parts and components to ensure quick turnaround on common repairs.
• Coordinates with the Repair Facility Manager to schedule repairs and handle urgent issues.
• Provides technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians.
• Troubleshoots complex issues on-site or in the workshop, ensuring minimum downtime for critical equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance checks on equipment to prevent future repairs.
• Complies with all company policies and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of electronics principles, design, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite or related software for reporting and documentation.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong time-management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving ability, with the capacity to troubleshoot complex systems efficiently.
• Ability to follow highly complex directions, drawings, and specifications to repair or install systems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and document repairs.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to electronics and electrical systems.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

• Education: Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or higher in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Certifications: Industry certifications in electronics or electrical systems (e.g., IPC-A-610, 3rd Party Vibration Analysis Certifications, etc.) are preferred. Any certifications specific to the brands and systems mentioned (Siemens, Schneider, ABB, GE, Alstom, Woodward) will be an advantage.
• Experience: Proven solid experience in carrying out electronics repairs at PCB component level on VFD, UPS, PLC, HMI, control systems, vibration monitoring, and fire and gas systems of the most common brands in the industry (Siemens, Schneider, ABB, GE, Alstom, Woodward). Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex industrial control systems and electronic equipment. Knowledge in PLC and HMI programming and ability to update and modify existing programs for system improvements. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, with a track record of successful repairs and installations.
• Other Requirements: Proficiency in using repair tools and diagnostic equipment. Ability to maintain a high standard of work and attention to detail.
