The Role:

We are currently seeking a Backend Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play an integral part in helping with the development, maintenance and optimization of our client business portal, using modern technologies such as TypeScript, Nest.JS, React, TypeORM, etc. Our web-based portal - runs on top of K8s with 8 microservices + 2 SPAs behind an API gateway, allows our customers to manage the full payments flow, including FX, through an intuitive platform. You will collaborate closely with our global teams to ensure optimal solutions that enable our customers to expand across geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient backend systems using technologies such as Node.js, NestJS, TypeORM, and PostgreSQL.
  • Assist in optimizing existing backend code for improved performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers and product teams to ensure seamless end-to-end functionality and optimal user experiences.
  • Create well-defined API designs for easy integration.
  • Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and stability.
  • Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and suggestions.
  • Design the routing of the Kong API Gateway while introducing new APIs.
  • Continuously improve the performance of APIs, SDLC, and release management during the sprint free time.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • University degree in computer science, software engineering or related discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in backend development.
  • Have experience with database software - PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, etc.
  • Have experience with any web services development and maintenance, like services on top of Express, NestJS, Apache, Tomcat, IIS, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with good command of English to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and global teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and programming abilities.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a distributed team environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and container orchestration.
  • Proficiency in Docker and containerized deployments
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, particularly AWS services.
  • Knowledge of FE development
  • Knowledge of any node.js frameworks, like express, NestJS, etc.
  • Knowledge of test automation, like unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, etc.
  • Knowledge of Apache Kafka
  • Knowledge of API gateway solutions, with experience in Kong gateway being a strong plus.
