Divisional Financial Controller (Tech Start up)

Client is an innovative and rapidly expanding company at the forefront of AI and fintech. As a pioneering leader in their industry, they are revolutionizing the market and driving continuous growth across Southeast Asia. With a strong foothold in Europe, they are now entering the Malaysian market to establish a regional hub - presently looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to build a solid financial foundation and support their ambitious expansion plans.

Job Summary

As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with international accounting standards and regulations, managing cash flow, and providing strategic insights to drive sustainable growth. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong attention to detail, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive financial efficiency within the organization. You will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

What you will be doing

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Develop financial models to support business growth and decision-making.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor and optimize working capital, ensuring efficient cash management strategies.
  • Financial Strategy & Planning: Work closely with the CFO and executives to implement financial strategies, evaluate investment opportunities, and provide financial insights for business growth.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements. Manage relationships with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • System & Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and automation processes.
  • Product Development Support: Collaborate with top management and respective local heads in launching and developing products, ensuring financial viability and alignment with business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in finance/accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial modeling, fundraising, and investor relations.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and wear multiple hats.
