POSITION SUMMARY:
The Industrial Engineer performs analyze current processes and procedures. Implement improvements that maximize productivity, reduce wastefulness, and ensure high quality results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Analyze current productivity data.
  2. Determine the best options for process improvement tactics.
  3. Train employees in new practices.
  4. Analyze output with new practices.
  5. Manage and lead continuous improvement projects.
  6. Promote efficiency and safety in the workplace.
  7. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in team management and support activities, providing guidance and assistance to Industrial Technicians as needed.
  2. Contribute to layout optimization efforts by analyzing and proposing potential improvements.
  3. Support capacity planning and analysis activities.
  4. Participate in time-study analysis and process improvement initiatives.
  5. Assist in Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects, providing technical expertise and support.
  6. Support OEE calculations and analysis, contributing to the evaluation and improvement of equipment performance.
  7. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing appropriate strategies.
  8. Assist in man-machine calculations and analysis to optimize workstations.
  9. Support 5S implementation activities.
  10. Assist in takt time analysis and calculations.
  11. Contribute to the management and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  12. Support layout design activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  1. Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat.
  2. Works in a fast-paced engineering/manufacturing lab environment.
  3. Also works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
  4. Works under limited supervision.
  5. Overtime may be necessary in times of increased demand.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Strong analytical skills to evaluate and interpret data.
  2. Strong communication and presentation skills.
  3. Strong leadership skills in implementing productivity changes.
  4. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Familiar with Cause & Effect Diagram, 5 Why, & Pareto Principle.
  5. Understanding of basic Lean methodologies of Flow, Poka Yoke, & Heijunka.
  6. Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  7. Documentation and organization skills.
  8. Ability to work independently.
  9. Ability to manage many projects at one time.

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  1. Minimum of three (3) years related experience.

Desirable:

  1. Familiar with ISO quality system.
  2. Familiar with plant operation system.
  3. Have good knowledge in 6Sigma, SPC, FMEA, lean manufacturing.

EDUCATION:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
