Environment: Data Centre / Mission-Critical Infrastructure

About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on Data Centre Network Engineer to support network operations within a data centre environment in Johor Bahru.

This is a practical, hands‑on position combining network troubleshooting and configuration with physical data centre network activities, including fibre/copper patching, cabling, connectivity checks and equipment support.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working both at the CLI and physically inside the data hall.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day‑to‑day network operations, troubleshooting and incident resolution.
  • Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers and basic firewall connectivity.
  • Support VLAN configuration, trunking, IP addressing and subnetting.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity issues.
  • Work with networking concepts such as STP/RSTP, LAG/LACP/EtherChannel and gateway redundancy such as HSRP/VRRP.
  • Perform physical network patching for fibre and copper connections between network devices, servers and patch panels.
  • Install, connect, replace and troubleshoot network cables, SFP/transceiver modules and network equipment.
  • Perform cable tracing, labelling and connectivity verification.
  • Support rack‑and‑stack, network equipment installation and replacement where required.
  • Verify physical and logical connectivity after network changes or patching activities.
  • Support network migration, maintenance and change activities.
  • Perform troubleshooting and basic fault isolation across Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3.
  • Follow data centre SOPs, change procedures and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate network, cabling and activity documentation.
  • Coordinate with remote network teams, vendors and other data centre teams during incidents and maintenance activities.

What We're Looking For

  • Around 2–5+ years of hands‑on network / data centre / infrastructure experience.
  • Good knowledge of routing and switching fundamentals.
  • Hands‑on experience with VLANs, trunking, subnetting and switch configuration.
  • Good understanding of STP, LAG/LACP and network redundancy/failover.
  • Experience with Cisco, Huawei, H3C, Aruba, Juniper or similar enterprise networking equipment.
  • Basic firewall knowledge; Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point or similar exposure is advantageous.
  • Hands‑on experience with network patching, structured cabling, fibre and/or copper connectivity.
  • Comfortable working with patch panels, SFPs/transceivers, switches, routers and server/network racks.
  • Able to troubleshoot both physical connectivity and network configuration issues.
  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification is preferred but not mandatory if the candidate can demonstrate strong practical networking knowledge.
  • Comfortable working in a data centre environment and performing hands‑on physical activities.
  • Able to support maintenance or network activities outside normal working hours when required.

Candidates We Would Particularly Like to Meet

You may come from a Network Engineer, Data Centre Network Engineer, Network Support Engineer, NOC Engineer or Data Centre Technician background.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can do both sides of the job:

Network configuration & troubleshooting + physical patching & cabling.

Candidates with experience across Cisco, Huawei, H3C, Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet or other enterprise networking platforms are welcome to apply.

This is a hands‑on role — candidates must be comfortable with both network configuration/troubleshooting and physical fibre/copper network patching within a data centre environment.
