Job Overview

TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and are responsible for product development and qualification from market definition through production and release. They assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes. The teams conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs, directing and supporting detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing ramp. They provide all required product documentation including Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. Typical fields of expertise include materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components.

This recently acquired business designs and builds a broad array of antennas for communication products serving various industries. The selected candidate will work with the team to translate customer needs into product designs, independently reach product development and design milestones, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. They will collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and other groups to ensure that the delivered product meets quality, performance, and cost goals. While specific product experience is not required, familiarity with the RF/antenna/microwave space will enhance any candidate's credentials.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design parts and assemblies to meet mechanical and environmental requirements while embodying cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensure designs implement proper technologies while meeting manufacturing, cost, and timing goals.
  • Work directly with customers and internal teams to identify requirements, establish design expectations, and meet agreed-upon design and performance goals.
  • Maintain project timelines to ensure all key deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate activities to accomplish prototype and pilot production runs to mature the design of components and assemblies.
  • Coordinate project activities to ensure smooth release of products into manufacturing meeting customer requirements and established timelines.
  • Perform risk assessment tests and use results to improve design and reduce risks before reaching manufacturing.
  • Maintain leading-edge technical proficiency and stay abreast of new trends and scientific developments in mechanical sciences.
  • Conduct product testing/qualification to ensure compliance with product requirements and write technical reports on significant findings.
  • Work with departments to obtain samples and test data and provide information to prepare datasheets/customer drawings.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in product design.
  • Antenna or RF experience is a plus.
  • Capable of manipulating CAD modeling tools, Creo preferred.
  • Creo/ANSYS Simulation experience is a plus.
  • PDM Windchill experience is an added advantage.
  • A solid understanding of mechanical designs including GD&T, structural mechanics, and manufacturing processes on sheet metal stamping, injection molding, die casting, printed circuit boards, and assembly.
  • Six Sigma methodologies or strong data analytics background is a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a global environment, collaborating with individuals across geographies.
  • Complete technical documents, including design specifications, test reports, and engineering presentations.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
