NEO will centralize key functions such as Customer Services, Banking Operations and Credit Operations; enabling scalable solutions that align with our vision, agility and efficiency.

Get to know the role:

Based in Malaysia, this role is part of the Credit Risk team. The role's primary responsibility is to maintain the Credit Decision Engine ("CDE"), i.e. configure the business rules relating to regulatory requirements and credit policy for origination and account management for MSME lending. In practice, this entails conducting portfolio analyses to identify risks and opportunities, presenting proposed enhancements to key stakeholders, and then implementing the necessary changes in the bank's CDE (FICO Decision Manager).

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement (configure), test and deploy origination and account management business rules in the CDE.
  • Conduct analyses of the bank's credit portfolio to identify risks and opportunities. Identify potential test programmes or enhancements to the bank's credit policies for origination and account management for MSME lending. Present these proposals to key stakeholders for their review / endorsement.
  • In consultation with the Compliance team and the MSME Credit Risk Manager, ensure that all regulatory requirements pertaining to MSME lending are correctly configured into the CDE.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of the CDE configuration.
  • Support debugging activities pertaining to the CDE. Assist with investigation of specific decisions (e.g. why a given loan application was rejected).
  • Work with the Data Engineering, Tech and Product team to ensure seamless integration of data from various sources into the CDE. Conduct regular quality checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data feeds and outputs.
  • Monitor the performance of the CDE. Generate and analyze reports to track key performance indicators and decision outcomes. Identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Work closely with internal teams such as Credit Risk, IT, Data Science, and Compliance to gather requirements, validate changes, and ensure alignment with business objectives. Act as a liaison to communicate technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or anomalies within the CDE. Implement preventive measures to minimize future disruptions.
  • Work with the CDE vendor to ensure system upgrades are adopted smoothly and quickly.
  • Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders to ensure understanding and effective use of the CDE.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in credit decisioning. Propose and implement innovative solutions to maintain the competitiveness and effectiveness of the credit decisioning process.

The must haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years experience in credit risk management, particularly in managing credit decisioning engines (e.g. Decision Manager / Blaze, PowerCurve).
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, or other relevant tools. Familiarity with Java and Python preferred.
  • Understanding of data integration, data management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to credit risk and lending practices.
  • An enthusiastic team player who can figure it out, get stuff done, have fun and is excellent in communication and stakeholder management.
