THE ROLE:
Push Boundaries, Deliver Innovation and Change the World In this role you will be given an opportunity to work on the next generation technology that will be part of future AMD Microprocessors powering Gaming Consoles, Servers and Personal Computers as well as Graphics Cards and VR sets. This team is also responsible for the Design and Verification of several critical components as well as the integration to other subsystems and SOC. The Design and Design Verification groups within this team are also responsible for developing a balanced architecture between power consumption and performance, delivering high complexity RTL code and creating advanced testbenches using cutting edge verification techniques.

You have excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrated through technical publications, presentations, trainings, executive briefings, etc. You are highly adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and engineers alike, ready to mentor and guide, and help to elevate the knowledge and skills of the team around you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop micro-architecture and design for high-speed IO controller blocks based on architectural requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews of designs in technical presentations to peers and management.
  • Develop RTL code for high-speed IO controller blocks in Verilog HDL and ensure functional correctness and reusability for different configurations.
  • Oversee synthesis and netlist delivery that meets timing, area, and power bounding box. Assist physical design team on the floor-planning and timing closure.
  • Work with Design Verification team to ensure quality for architecture definition and design implementation.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team members.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong knowledge in computer architecture and interconnects. Strong experience in high-speed IO controller design (e.g., USB, PCIe, SATA, Thunderbolt). USB and/or Thunderbolt experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience in full ASIC design cycle: requirements definition, architectural and micro-architectural specification, RTL, design verification, floor-planning, synthesis, timing closure, post-silicon validation.
  • Expertise in Verilog RTL design and experience with large digital ASIC projects.
  • Familiarity with front-end EDA tools and flows.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux and scripting (Tcl, Perl, Ruby, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. Able to provide clear and logical presentations and documentation.
  • Open-minded and transparent. Willing to admit and learn from mistakes.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.
  • Work is performed with limited supervision. Strong sense of task scheduling and ability to deliver on time as committed milestones.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • MS or BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer Science with 11+ years of working experience in the ASIC design industry.
