Responsibilities:
  1. Ensuring vehicles are mechanically sound and legally roadworthy.
  2. Performing basic repairs and maintenance in the event of accident or breakdown while in transit.
  3. Safely securing heavy loads and large goods for transport.
  4. Organising the most efficient route from pickup point to drop off point.
  5. Keeping informed of road closures, accidents and traffic diversions.
  6. Organising multiple drop-offs and deliveries in each working day.
  7. Supervising and assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries into the lorry.
  8. Updating vehicle log books, recording deliveries and tracking mileage.
  9. Complying with all MOT and in-house regulations and rules.
Requirements:
  1. Must be over 18 years of age with the ability to lift 20 kilogrammes.
  2. A full driving license, ideally with zero points.
  3. Ability to drive long distances in cramped conditions while maintaining concentration.
  4. Ability to drive through the night or spend long periods of time away from home.
  5. Mechanical skills, such as changing the engine oil.
  6. Ability to communicate with both suppliers and customers and provide up-to-date information, such as delivery times.
