**Job Summary**: COP in Malaysia has varying stages of exploration, development, and production activities across six production sharing contracts (PSCs). Four of these PSCs are in waters off the eastern Malaysian state of Sabah: Block G, Block J, and the Kebabangan Cluster (KBBC) which are non-operated blocks and Block SB405, an operated exploration block acquired in 2021. Additionally, COP operates another two exploration PSCs: Block WL4-00 and Block SK304, in waters off the eastern Malaysian state of Sarawak.

This position is a permanent role to progress the development of strategic alternatives for the Malaysia business unit. The business unit undertook a Regional Resource Assessment and have identified Areas of Interests (AoI) that are competitive to the Malaysia Business Unit portfolio to be considered to ensure long term materiality to COP.

The MBU LT has identified one AoI (Project Magenta) for business unit pursuit and the path forward is to further define and evaluate this opportunity.

Basic Purpose/Accountabilities:
This position will work within the integrated team to progress the identified AoI. The position will also liaise with internal COP technical groups and the GTF group in Houston.

The Geologist is accountable to the Strategy PIM.
** Job Description**:
**Primary Functions/Responsibilities**:

- Lead the integrated geological evaluation of existing and undeveloped reservoirs in the AoI, with a minor aspect of exploration prospects.
- Develop static models (where applicable).
- Work interactively with the reservoir engineer to create resource recovery estimates and associated production profiles.
- Monitor and influence development plans for the AoI.
- Provide independent technical assessments and work as COP geoscience interface with operators (where applicable).
- Prepare documentation for corporate reviews at key approval gates.

**HSE Roles**:

- Comply with HSE policies, Life Saving Rules, procedures, goals and programs within the MBU HSE Management System.
- Actively engage in and contribute to HSE communication and consultation processes.
- Actively participate in HSE initiatives and programs that include but not limited to, Safety Observations and HSE Trainings
- Support company sustainability development (SD) initiatives and other environmental policies and practices.

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Bachelor of Science degree in geoscience.
- Over 15 years with broad experience in field development and appraisal.

**Preferred Skills & Experiences**:

- Broad geoscience knowledge base with experience in development and exploration.
- Experience in Malaysia basins.
- Competency in Petrel geomodelling and seismic and Petrel/Landmark interpretation software.
- Geologic experience on multi-disciplinary teams handling field developments.
- Creative thinker and strong business sense.
- Good communication skills, strong team player, a high level of self-motivation and the ability to influence are all critical to this job.
