**Summary**:
The Contracts Attorney will serve as a point of contact for internal and external customers regarding contract management, contract compliance, and general legal and compliance support, e.g. management of legal risk and problem resolution for the South East Asia region. The Contracts Attorney will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating all relevant contracts for the organization’s businesses within South East Asia. The Contracts Attorney will also provide support for legal and compliance management and training. The position will be based in Malaysia.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts in accordance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures. As part of this, the Contracts Attorney will perform a risk assessment of proposed terms and conditions and work with the business leads to develop recommendations to minimize their potential risk to the business and also understand what risks are acceptable.
- Review RFPs and RFQs and assist in preparing compliant proposals and quotations.
- Localize global compliance policies and create regional specific policies
- Create lean processes for the Legal Department (e.g. for document processing and execution, file maintenance).
- Develop precedents and templates for use by the business.
- Negotiate contracts with third parties together with the business.
- Liaising with and advising other relevant functions throughout the group, such as purchasing, accounting and finance, sales, human resources and marketing.
- Educate and train employees on legal and compliance matters.
- Assess risk for the region and assist on the progress of compliance efforts.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Law Degree and admitted or qualified to practice in a recognized bar.
- 5 years’ experience gained in a law firm or in-house role.
- Strong drafting skills and ability to negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts.
- Strong verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the company’s legal department and across all businesses
- Excellent leadership and project management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively lead in a complex and changing environment.
- Customer centric and focused approach in supporting both external and internal customers.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Fluency in a SEA language
- In house counsel experience
